Before Seeking Employment Artists Should Create Business Cards For Themselves

Use color carefully.  If in doubt simpify your color palette. Bright or clashing colors can work, but only if they're well thought out and congruent with the rest of the design.
Busines cards requiring only one color of ink can be much cheaper to print. Black and white business cards or something like dark blue on white can in some cases work well.  Use a simple one ink color design if you like.

Create a document in source format (eg. a photoshop file or an inkscape file) and also create a flattened rasterized version using CMYK color, just one simple picture, no alpha or layers.  Use lossless compression or no compression, and no downsampling.  Tiff with lossless compression is recommended.
